Bidadari Island is one of the resorts in the Thousand Islands District, Jakarta. Prior named Angel Island, this island has two names, namely Pulau Island Hospital and Purmerend.
Transportation
The journey to this resort does not require a long time because it is still adjacent to the mainland Jakarta. From the dock marina Ancol Dreamland, en route to the resort is only takes half an hour by speed boat (speedboat) belonging to the manager of the island. Because close to Jakarta, visitors who come to this resort there is a use jetski. In one day there are at least two to three times the ship's departure from Marina Ancol jetty and from the island. Ship departures, at most on Saturday while on a weekday, only two ships scheduled departure times.
Travel
Along the way to this resort, can be witnessed by a group of islands which are full of such historical value Cipir Island (Island Goda), Onrust and Kelor. These islands have been used by colonial Dutch East India Company, so many buildings look like fortresses Dutch heritage and the ancient port.
History
In the 17th century, this island is a supporting activity Onrust Island because it was not far away with it. Because of the support, the island was built also the means of support. In 1679, the VOC build a hospital for leprosy or leprosy, which is moving from Angke. Therefore, this island was named Island Hospital.
At the same time, the Dutch established the fort supervisor. The fort was built this function more as a means of supervision to conduct the defense from enemy attacks. Before the island was occupied by Dutch, Ambon and Dutch people have lived on the island.
Around the year 1800, the British fleet attacked the island and destroyed the buildings on the island. Around 1803 the Dutch regained control of Bidadari Island and rebuild. However, the British again attacked in 1806, Onrust Island and Bidadari Islandand other islands apart. In 1827 the island was re-built by the Netherlands with the involvement of the Chinese workers and prisoners. The building is a dormitory built pilgrimage that function until 1933.
This island before the resort was empty and uninhabited until 1970. In fact the island has never been visited by people. In the early 1970s, the PT Seabreez manage this island to serve as a tourist resort.
Since the year 1970, to attract visitors, the island changed its name to Bidadari Island. The reason for taking its name to Bidadari Island was inspired from the name of the other islands in the Thousand Islands such as the Island Princess, Island of Nirvana, and others.
Tourist attraction
Historic relics from the Dutch colonial era the main attraction at Bidadari Island. In the resort is indeed offered to stay while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the sea.
Because of its location adjacent to Jakarta, many visitors who come just a day trip or not staying better known as the One Day Tour. Visitors who come here want to relax than to enjoy the cool sea breeze, also want to see historic buildings located on Bidadari Island.
Facilities
Unlike other resorts, resort Bidadari Island has a resort that is above the sea, known as floating cottages (floating cottage). Cottage is a house on stilts above the water like a fishing village. There are also cottages on land that consists of two models namely the stage models and not the stage. Cottage stage models designed similar to the traditional house of Minahasa.
If you want to tour the water then it could play with the banana boat, jetski, canoe or sea kayak and a number of other activities such as fishing and swimming at the beach.
On the beach there are a number of marquee for a seat to relax or just lie down relieve fatigue and enjoy the cool coastal breeze. Bidadari Island resort also has a garden under the shade of the trees so no need to worry about overheating.
When visitors want to cross to the island of Onrust, manager of the island provides a small speedboat to take.
